Legendary Rock star Gene Simmons of the group KISS bashed Rihanna at a press conference, after the group announced they were going on tour together this summer.
Saying:
"We’re
sick and tired of girls getting up there with dancers and karaoke tapes in back
of them. What you’re going to hear on stage is live music. No Karaoke singers
allowed. No fake bullsh*t. Leave that to the Rihanna, Shmianna and anyone who
ends their name with an ‘A."
Drummer Tommy Lee didn't cut her any slack either, co-signing with:
"No
disrespect to Rihanna, she’s a great singer, but we’re in a slump for some sh*t
that has some personality and appeal beyond a bunch of pop stuff that’s floating
around out there. I’m glad he said that actually because I don’t think I can
bear watching another f*cking award show that is just a little bit better than
American Idol. It’s f*cking pathetic to watch people go out and f*cking karaoke
with a bunch of lights and video. It’s all completely watered down.”
Rihanna may have the tiny-boppers jamming to her music, but these Rock pioneers are not feeling her tunes. Though she clearly made some sort of impression on them; out of all the pop stars they remembered her performance enough to mention her name. As they say, any publicity is good publicity.
