Jersey Shore's Mike "the Situation" Sorrentino checked himself into a Utah rehab facility. The reality star confirmed he is receiving treatment for a prescription drug addiction. Recently, he tweeted: "I have voluntarily taken steps to get control of a prescription medication problem I had due to exhaustion," his statement said. "I have spent the past several weeks getting treatment for this problem and recuperating from my work and appearance schedule. I appreciate my fans support and love you guys."
TMZ reported, The Sitch went through detox at the Cirque Lodge which also showed traces on alcohol.
With the Jersey Shore returning for a sixth season this leaves MTV stuck between a rock and a hard place. For the past 5 seasons the Situation has been tied to parties and alcohol. Those drunked party nights racked in ratings. If the Situation does not bring the same energy sober as he does drunk the show could potentially lose ratings, if MTV allows him to have a drink to keep viewers they'll look like enablers.
